Valeska Grisebach – biography and filmography

  Valeska Grisebach was born in 1968 in berms. After high school she studied philosophy and Germanic in Berlin, Munich and Vienna. From 1993 to 2001 she was at the Vienna Film Academy with Peter Patzak, Wolfgang Glück and Michael Haneke.

1995 she presented her documentary project, speaking and non-speaking at the Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna. This was followed by the documentaries In the Gobi Desert (1997) and Berlin (1999), which was shown at the Duisburg Film Week.

My Star (2001), Valeska Grisebach diploma film at the Vienna Film Academy. Her debut film was made in collaboration with ZDF / 3sat film editors. My star was occupied exclusively with young amateurs. For my star, she received much praise from film and television critics and several awards, including the First Steps Award, 2001 and a nomination for the Grimme Award, 2002.

2006 she introduced her second feature film, nostalgia, (2005) in competition at the Berlinale. At the Festival of German Films in Ludwigshafen longing won the top prize of 50,000 euros Filmkunstpreis.
