The Pink Panther: A Shot in the dark

  In the villa of millionaire Benjamin Ballon (George Sanders), a frenzy: The driver of the house was murdered there, and calculated the nice maid Maria Gambarelli (Elke Sommer) is under strong suspicion. Inspector Clousseau take up the matter, and above all the suspects, especially as he has his eye on the young woman. In the second film of the Pink Panther film series presented in director Blake Edwards and his comedic actor Peter Sellers in top form, even before the first two opponents of the bumbling Inspector emerge from Paris and make this life difficult. Firstly, this is Clousseaus Chief Charles Dreyfus (Herbert Lom), the balances in these films always on the verge of a nervous breakdown or a longer hospital stay and the other of the inspector, more or less loyal servant Cato (Burt Kwouk) that his boss always inappropriate challenging moments for martial arts training. Followed by the film – apart from an episode with Alan Arkin in the role Clousseaus from 1968 – a long pause, as received by Blake Edwards and Peter Sellers their cooperation for another three films again. As good as the first part of the series, the films were never again.
