Roman Polanski – Biography and filmography

  Roman Polanski was born on 18 August 1933 born son of Polish parents in Paris. In 1937 the family moved to Krakow. After the outbreak of World War II his parents fled with her son in Warsaw, but returned a year later returned to Krakow. From the once flourishing Jewish neighborhoods had now become a ghetto. Polanski’s mother was transported from there in 1940 and later murdered in Auschwitz. Shortly before the liquidation of the ghetto, Polanski was able to escape along with his father.

  The connections between literature and film are varied and intricate and apparently incredibly appealing. And again and again filmmakers venturing out to take the act of writing and life as a writer, even in pictures, sometimes more and sometimes with less success. The director Jörg Adolph had his film Houwelandt – A novel certainly, a new chapter in this never-ending love story between literature and cinema set up and comes across old familiar problems.
