If love were easy (DVD)

           If love were easy (DVD)
               Genre: Comedy, Romance
Love, New York, divorce, love triangle
Happy is he who has such concerns: For ten years, Jane Adler (Meryl Streep) is the successful owner of a shop for exclusive goodies, already by her ex-husband Jake (Alec Baldwin) divorced. Jake had once because of the younger Agness (Lake Bell), apart from his wife and three children shared, today, the wounds healed but largely, you can even meet each other at parties, without that this would leave too unpleasant feelings. In addition, interacts with the gorgeous shy architect Adam (Steve Martin), a new man into Jane’s life, she not only reads all the architectural requirements of the eyes. But then, in celebration of the exams of his son and several bottles of wine, Jane and Jake end up in New York together in bed – and secretly begin an affair. But as we say it to our children? And is it really possible that new after ten years of separation, the old love inflamed or is it all just a flash in the pan and the charm of the familiar? Soon to be both their feelings no longer safe and have their hands full, complicated affair before their own children, the new wife Jakes and Adam to hide … To which target group is Nancy Meyers, with her new film, if love were as simple addresses, there’s no doubt: There are mainly women in their fifties and upwards, if Jane down together in the evening with her friends in salad and wine and chats, one feels sometimes to the ladies round of Sex and the City recalls – but 20 years later. Of course, it goes to the men and also (in homeopathic doses) about sex, but one gets the impression that all this has long ceased to be important as in previous years. Because all these women have made their experiences with the men because they have come to terms with the death or divorce, and because they have learned it as representatives of the privileged upper middle class, even without a man at her side to enjoy life. And should be “Mr. Right” but still randomly turn around the corner, which normally provides for no more crises and breakdowns as before. Perhaps it is also this impression, this attitude that makes Jane’s love troubles are not always credible. Because we know that this woman can really shake anything. Be honest: we envy deeply about this serenity. And their ability to still follow their impulses and emotions. Because the love beyond the stereotypes of the Fifty Nancy Meyers is primarily through the stomach, turns here much no more about sex, but particularly about food and about drinking. “Food is the sex of the age,” says a cheeky quip and if the love would be easy this trite cliche seems to confirm. When Jake is back after several years in the circle of his former family is, he first praises Janes cooking. Even otherwise fills the ever-graying and some of the glue gone Alec Baldwin over the entire duration of the movie filled with all sorts of goodies – just as if the director explained why the Beau of the past today is more like a cuddly bear lumbering piece rather than a sex symbol. Jake’s opponent, who is also divorced architect Adam (Steve Martin), the Jane’s delightful property is provided with a growing and a crush during the planning phase to the building owner, will remain for much of the film rather pale and acts with its reduced expression as a multiple revamped mask of the well-meaning any plastic surgeon too wild grimaces has strictly prohibited. Only after Jane and Adam herumkichern vollgekifft during a party silly, is Martin’s comedic talent noticeable and makes for one of the few genuine laughs in this soft-Romantic Comedy, which one is in a different setting and with a different cast as well in the private German television as ” TV can imagine the week “. Not least because of the fact that complications occur in this film an all too familiar and all, despite the assertion that the complexity of the entanglement but are, in the end everything dissolves into thin air. Dignified equipped and directed sound is If love were easy, above all something for all fans of Nancy Meyers – even if other works by the “Queen of ROMCOM” (Something’s Gotta Give, What Women Want, Love needs The Holiday) take the pulse of the times better than this then quite predictable film. And last but not least is the film for those who can enjoy the beautiful decorations, such as from a magazine for elegant country house style, picture-familiar problems and courses of action without too much right. If you like it then but a little surprising and non-stereotyped, which is certainly better off in other films. Entertainment cinema of the light variety for the Generation 50Plus. (Joachim Kurz)

Easy Virtue

Easy Virtue

Easy Virtue – an immoral wife
               Genre: Comedy, Romance
Marriage, scandal, England, intrigue, 1920s, mother-
A cinematic gem is the British director Stephan Elliott, prima facie, with Easy Virtue – an immoral wife succeeded. Sparkling with wit, brilliant in its equipment, staffed with top-class performers, so radiantly presents the film adaptation of Noel Coward’s eponymous play. That is not necessarily behind impeccable appearance hides an impeccable character, must determine not only the young heroine of the comedy. At second glance, turns out the supposed unique is not as special gem rhinestones. Dialogues and characters may still be sanded so they are still made of glass to see through light and brittle. The production is reflected in their excessive frivolity, the “easy virtue” of the movie title. But between humorous social study and genre paintings commutes director and co-writer Elliott so skillfully that you are not shocked by small defects can be. Enough has already shocked the prudish Englishwoman Veronica Whitaker (Kirstin Scott Thomas). John (Ben Barnes), her only son and youngest member of the family, married an American woman. The divorced racer Larita (Jessica Biel) acts on the frozen spit into bourgeois stuffiness Whitaker’s more exotic than its name. The sunny location of the estate is deceptive. About the property is piling up a dark cloud of debt and the romantic and social prospects for Johns older sisters Hilda (Kimberley Nixon) and Marion (Katherine Parkinson) is murky. With sympathy Larita only meet Mr. Whitaker Veronicas sarcastic husband (Colin Firth) and Butler Furber (Kris Marshall). The old Mrs. Whitaker and her daughters react to the young Mrs. Whitaker Sun Larita as allergic to the flowers, the sneaky Veronica placed around the American. After Larita has in various Fetnäpfchen set and to make matters worse on the house dog, judge the intrigues of the ladies of the house against her marriage to John. , The delicious wit of Easy Virtue hides not only, he fades: the many scenic and dramatic nuances that distinguish a masterpiece of nice entertainment cinema. The Noel Coward-adaptation about an immoral wife is a charming cinematic flyweight, which make the more enthralling actors enjoyable. Only the pale Ben Barnes interfere with the same expressionless face, which he had borrowed in Oliver Parker’s Dorian Gray unsuccessful film version of Oscar Wilde’s subtle social study. The End of Easy Virtue may be thought of as a rejection of the antiquated double standard, but reminds more of a reconciliation with her. Not opposites attract, but like and like attracts like. An immoral wife and her ideal husband to be released from the place where the convention does not tolerate the couple. A Picasso in petto compensated the newly rich future for the expulsion from the bourgeois paradise. What appears to most as the first film, is actually the second. A very young Alfred Hitchcock used the substance in 1928 in an early director. The plot of the period 1924 surprise hit piece was then advanced society the present. The contradiction between perceived decadence of American decency and a supposed English did not have the razor-thin but visible patina of Untimely which Elliott’s comedy clings. For Hitchcock’s work was a silent film, what one can imagine with the sparkling dialogue in the ear barely. The ironic bon mots, which seems to come more often than Noel Coward’s stage play Elliott’s script are spoken so rapidly that each new can forget the previous one. Perhaps, therefore, appears the last – “When the going gets though the though get going.” – At the most elegant, perhaps, because it is part of the song title as great soundtracks. The latter makes Easy Virtue – An immoral wife only to that gorgeous piece of cinematic dross whose ensemble Veronica Whitaker aptly as “perfect for musical comedy” called. As such Easy Virtue is flawless. As a serious satire, he takes it easy with the dramatic virtue. (Lida Noir)

Hang Time - no easy task

No wonder that the “Hang Time” in basketball videos always look in ultra slow motion: the moment when the players come off the front of the basket to sink the ball in the basket or when you try to fail, requiring intense concentration. The decision has long since fallen, and now it comes to timing, the required bounce and body control to – it is a floating moment of decision, where it is all or nothing good to the success or failure.
