Perfect World, developed by the French film magazine Cahiers du Cinéma ( #) 1993 was voted the best film of the year, combined exciting entertainment with great emotion in front of the classic scenario of good and evil. It is the strength of American melodrama, that it renounces obvious moralizing in favor of a careful figure drawing, which is expressed in powerful, moving images. That the perfect world, which identifies the ironic title, is for a little boy and a gangster of the 1990s occurring in Texas so completely beyond the infamous American dream, at least for a little while, does it constitute a rejection of the popular Gutmenschentum that is all too often romps in such productions.
