The Vollchaot and lovable Spinner Jean-Gabriel promises to his family for a holiday, even though he has just gambled his money and got rid of the backup job. That his wife despairs, is not surprising, but she has not reckoned with the resourcefulness of her husband, everything it can to offer his three kids an unforgettable snow adventure. But if the visitors and residents of the idyllic family with the turbulent Resort Caribbean roots so happy to see their trails and slopes? While Jean-Gabriel (Lucien Jean-Baptiste) run preparations for the holidays in full swing, has his wife Suzy (Anne Consigny) long ago decided to let him go with the children alone because they feared a new disaster. Instead, his mother abruptly plans JG Bonne Maman (Firmine Richard) with one, but takes his invitation to the holiday and will literally lift a finger in the household, after all, it had served him for years, and now he can finally return the favor with her. Their landlord, the older couple Morgeot meet, apparently the first time in her life, black people, and especially the women nervous and tense, because the strangers make her afraid, and also sit firmly in their prejudice. Soon, the family is Elizabeth’s idyllic resort on the head, JG is his passion for horse racing to continue and is just as unsuccessful as in Paris and Bonne Maman feels now but still compelled to provide at least for the physical welfare of the family, as the cooking skills of her son’s taste buds all at very insulting. Meanwhile, blossomed the youngest of the family Ludo (Ludovic Francois), a real Skiwunder and he makes friends with the owner at his sister Manon (Loreyna Colombo) takes part in a singing competition and the teenager Yann (Jimmy WOHA-WOHA) falls immortal in a runway beauty. Whether the leave is actually an unforgettable experience for the will of Elizabeth, the other colored people overcome their prejudices of the small ski resort but still G’s and J-wife comes back to him? Herrlich, like this is handled with prejudice, stereotypes are hawked and the ubiquitous racism is wrapped in irony. Lucien Jean-Baptiste, director, screenwriter and leading actor in one is so absolutely worth seeing winter comedy filmed, although overwrought in some scenes, the humor, but everything was in all this a socio-politically charged topic in a witty story packed, perhaps more to stimulate reflection, as it would have made a profound drama. In particular, the figure of the Bonne Maman invites you to a permanent smile, because Firmine Richard is an incredible actress who achieved great things just by their facial expressions. Her disapproving Schnalzgeräusche to the chaotic actions of her son, which come out as a running gag through the film wearing increasingly contribute to the funny bone of viewers to constantly in motion. In the amusing story of Elizabeth is shaped entirely autobiographical, because Lucien Jean-Baptiste, whose roots lie in Martinique, spent his youth in a similar ski vacation. Whether the time but just as humorously expired, may be doubted. Meet the Elizabeth! won the Audience Prize and Jury Prize at the Festival of the comic film, Alpe d’Huez and the Audience Award at Filmfest Hamburg 2009. (Silvy Pommerenke)
