Maria Schrader – biography and filmography

  The German theater, television and film actress Maria Schrader, born in 1965, has changed now for the first time the sides and made the leap behind the camera. Love life, the film version of the eponymous best-selling novel by Zeruya Shalev, is her directorial debut. The screenplay she wrote with Laila Stieler. Her acting debut in 1983 as the Hanover-born student at the State Theater in Hanover. In the same year she began her acting training at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna, but they broke off three years later she moved to Berlin. Together with director Dani Levy, she wrote in 1988, the screenplay for the comedy RobbyKallePaul in which she took her first movie role. For their second joint work with Dani Levy, I was on Mars, it was in 1992 with the Max Ophüls Prize.

In their further acting, she stood Others front of the camera in film by Doris Dorrie, Hal Hartley, Peter Greenaway, Margarete von Trotta, Hans W. Geißendörfer and Rainer Kaufmann, with whom she conducted a relationship, and has a daughter. Schrader appeared in almost all films directed by Dani Levy, with whom she was allied privately.

As an actress she has received several awards: for their performance in Max Färberböck drama Aimee and Jaguar (1998) she received at the Berlinale 1999 (together with Juliane Köhler), the Silver Bear for Best Actress.

After a 10-year break stage was Maria Schrader from 2002 to 2005 at the Nibelungen Festival in Worms, directed by Dieter Wedel and Karin Beier Kriemhild as on stage. She was seen at the Theater Basel in 2003 (in The Silk Shoe directed by Stefan Bachmann) to. In 2007 she worked again with the director Karin Beier: For Yasmina Reza’s play The God of Carnage) (#.
