Hans Weingartner – biography and filmography

  Hans Weingartner was born on 2 November 1970 in Feldkirch / Vorarlberg in Austria born. From 1991 to 1997 he studied brain research at the University of Vienna and the Neurosurgery Clinic of Berlin-Steglitz, from which he graduated with a diploma.

From 1993-1994, he trained as an assistant cameraman on the AAC ( #) ( Austrian Academy of Cinematography ). From 1997 until 2001 was followed by a post-graduate studies at the Cologne Academy of Media Arts ( KHM ) in the Department of Film / TV, which he ended with his graduation film, the white noise. For this film, Weingartner was awarded the Max Ophüls Award 2001 and the First Steps Newcomer Award 2002 for Best Director as well as the prize for the best graduates of the Film Society for the perception of film and television rights (GWFF) and the HFF Konrad Wolf. The white noise was also nominated in 2002 for the German Film Award.
2003 Hans turned Weingartner The Edukators. The main roles were to be seen Daniel Bruhl, Julia Jentsch and Stipe Erceg to. The film about the reckless rebels abduct more by chance a manager, developed in Germany to an arthouse hit. The fat years are over, the first German film in decades, who attended the competition at the Cannes Festival was. Julia Jentsch won the Bavarian Film Award for her role as best young actress.
