  Today Ilya Kabakov is one of the great international art scene. But that was not always so. Born in 1933 in Dnepropetrovsk artist as a child first attended the Art School of the Leningrad Academy of Fine Arts and went to the end of World War II to Moscow, where he graduated in 1951 as an illustrator and in the next few years as a children’s book illustrator. From the mid-1960s he became one of the main actors of the dissident Moscow art scene, and who did not want to surrender to the principles of “socialist realism”.
