Small, sweet and innocent he is. Tomek, still green behind the ears, a passionate amateur astronomer and beyond Sex and Drugs and Rock’n'Roll. This is changing alarmingly fast, when he was first in love and wants to present itself in front of his beloved. Thus, he slips into criminal activities, prostitution, and eventually even to the pimp. Tomek (Filip Garbacz) is fifteen years old and living at the German-Polish border. However, on the eastern side, and his life is of sadness, poverty and lack of vision of the future dominated. Although he regularly visits the youth pastor, and even more hours on that of the astronomy club, as his great passion is the stars and he is unruly on the new telescope is happy with which he could see in a few weeks the Mercury. But his former German teacher Herr Weber (Rolf Hoppe), who heads the astronomy club, the money gets to the desired device will not match. Disappointed Tomek then flees the only disco in the resort, where he met the same age Marta (Anna Kulej know). This seems to be fate is sealed, for the girl he duly turned his head and put him with demands for chic clothes and especially under pressure veneers. This ceramic veneers for teeth are for them the symbol of a successful and luxurious life, and cost a small fortune. Tomek has set his mind to fulfill the wishes of his loved ones and attempts by the sale of asparagus and garden gnomes zusammenzubekommen the money. The yields are only a drop in the bucket, so he decides to borrow the money from his buddy Ciemny (Daniel Furmaniak), who works as a prostitute. But even that can not help him, so that soon gets Tomek, even in the vortex of prostitution inside. More and more he loses his innocent nature and will eventually even pimps. The vicious circle of violence, easy money and unscrupulous begins to mercilessly Tomek to draw together and finally ends in an inferno … That Filip Garbacz, who plays the role of Tomek, should be fifteen years old falls hard to believe. This delicate body, the innocent face to see where not even the idea of a beard is, can hardly be matched with the milieu of prostitution. Yet it is precisely his childlike innocence and that illustrate the misery of the situation. By selecting this young actor who gets in the course of the film actually something wicked and violent, becomes a perversion of the older men shows that are on pubescent boys and also not shy in front of rape is to others in the negative out clearer career Tomek. It is not only the child’s appearance by Filip Garbacz, which gives the figure of Tomek to life, but above all, its highly unusual theatrical performance, which he presented a consistent and more credible than the case of the teenager on the screen. Painful lives with the viewers of the pull of the abyss, not only Tomek but all young people are exposed to this film. Instead of pursuing the dreams of childhood, they catapult themselves into an adult life that leaves them no room for the future. The “I” social drama, Tomek manages with all the brutality that is seen to deliver an evaluation, but can story and pictures speak for themselves. Which remain sustainable and competitive left when leaving the cinema a stale feeling in the stomach … (Silvy Pommerenke)

Red Riding Trilogy
Genre: Thriller, Crime
Journalist, corruption, police, Yorkshire Ripper, murderer of women
In the British county of Yorkshire is spreading a nasty swamp of corruption and violence, in which apparently also some figures from the ranks of law enforcement more than knee-deep wade. The public is horrified because of the disappearance of little girls that are found brutally murdered in part, and soon to be brutal murders of women – often perpetrated on prostitutes – to enable this region for years in a most uncomfortable alert. When young, dedicated journalist Eddie Dunford (Andrew Garfield) after a long absence in the area back and work as a police correspondent for the Yorkshire Post starts, he encounters in the course of his research on the shady Immobilienhai John Dawson (Sean Bean), who soon generous benefits for a pleasing offering coverage. But Eddie Dunford will not be bought, even if it is becoming clear that involved not only the police but also his boss in shady deals with Dawson. Lone, the journalist decides to offer to the Moloch of corruption the end – with tragic consequences … With the young reporter as the main character starts the first part of the Red Riding Trilogy, inspired by the screenplay by Tony Grisoni am Red Riding Quartet , those of the Yorkshire writer David was Peace. The four award-winning crime novels are concerned with the time of the murderous machinations of Peter Sutcliffe in the 1970s and 1980s, which became known as “Yorkshire Ripper” in the story. The three parts of the film adaptation of this most fascinating subject from 2009 were directed by three different directors: In the year of our Lord 1974 / Red Riding: In the Year of Our Lord 1974 by Julian Jarrold, In the year of our Lord 1980 / Red Riding: In the Year of Our Lord 1980 by James Marsh and the year of our Lord 1983 / Red Riding: In the Year of Our Lord 1983 by Anand Tucker, all of which stand out through their dark and relentlessly melancholic atmosphere. The dramatic reconstruction of a small scale, the actual specific events at the Yorkshire Ripper, but is rather a complex process in the investigation into a rotten police force, with each part of his own hero moves into focus: The journalists of the first part follows a highly qualified police officer from outside (Paddy Considine), and in the third episode there is a local lawyer (Mark Addy), who defended the imprisoned alleged murderer and announces to fight corruption. After the strong start of the year 1974 is the second episode of a little inconsistent and generally weaker, while the third part in turn auftrumpft as a moving finale. Although some plot lines sometimes run too confused and others to quickly seep, but it is precisely this vagueness that the opacity of the atmosphere are conducive, which presents itself as a constant striking of the trilogy. In particular, the first part, but certainly the following are flanked by highly appropriate, melancholy musical sounds, the crude hardness of the counter-balancing act. The three DVDs of the Red Riding Trilogy offer an unusual, thick, and above all atmospherically gripping thriller quality that absorbs the viewer into a universe of historical events and fictional casing, which in its complexity and with its flexible priority-not smooth, but all the more stimulating and deep and profound conversation is. Genre: Drama
Death, Liverpool, Iraq war, intrigue, soldier, Baghdad, Cannes 2010, Security
While other old masters such as Woody Allen, this year in Cannes rather tired presented, showing the British filmmaker Ken Loach, that he maintains is still his own special kind of political cinema that his films will make a difference, that they shake and grievances show want. For his new film, Route Irish, where it will focus on the opaque business of private security companies in Iraq and Afghanistan, he has – unusually enough for the master of Sozialdramas – chosen the form of a thriller. Fergus Malloy (Mark Womack) has served as a soldier in Iraq first and then hired the private security firm Haynes. Now he returns home to Liverpool, where his best friend Frankie (John Bishop), who also served with Haynes is to be buried – he was on “Route Irish,” the most dangerous road in the world, from the Baghdad airport in the Green Zone in the city center, leads in an ambush by terrorists and was killed. But Fergus quickly suspects that the official version of something is not right – especially when an Iraqi mobile phone shows up, that shows how employees of Haynes take a taxi full of civilians in Iraq under fire and extinguish it a whole family. Together with Frankies widow Rachel (Andrea Lowe), he knows too long (and loves), sets out Fergus, the true background of death to pursue his best friend and ends up even in the firing line of his colleagues. Although Route Irish by the war in Iraq explains, he plays almost exclusively in Liverpool – apart from some central flashback, shot in Jordan. Loach’s attached to it message is as clear as that of Oren Mover Mans soon tarnish drama, The Messenger, which also tells of the war in Iraq, but only in the U.S. play – the conflict that we believe in the distant future, has long since arrived on our doorstep he produces soldiers who can get along with the experienced not fighting machines, which are due to the brutality to rein in fact little more. Fergus Malloy is one of those broken men – such as the ruthless mercenaries who fought it distinguishes him almost nothing of his enemies. The fact that he fights with all means for the good thing is, only his close relationship with Frankie (and his love for Rachel to thank for). This makes him not necessarily sympathetic, but all the more believable character, a choleric, who has only very rarely in his barren apartment and told much of his inner emptiness and homelessness. And it is more than logical that this man who without any scruples kills even innocent people can be granted at the end not a happy outcome. However, Route Irish is not one of the best films of Ken Loach – that recalls the work but then too much of many now prominent British TV thriller. What shows are on what a high level of these productions is now reached at least in part, and how much they accept always current and controversial topics, such as that of the Iraq war. Man missing in this story a little the grand gesture and the great pictures that would distinguish the film from the competition on television. (Joachim Kurz)

For the best trained and eager dedicated detectives Holms (Rolf Herricht) it is not easy to qualify for his upcoming promotion at the People’s Police clouds home, because in the quiet little town, there is little or even just clear up any crimes. His urgent need for exciting cases, in which he could impress earnestly as the shining hero of his beloved Lucie (Evelyn Cron), which he dares so far, so here only revere from afar satisfied spar in exciting (day) dreams. For the vile, because of dwindling low crime rate hardly worth mentioning crime prevention condemned to sink into depression threatens Holms, without him the sloping clouds psychiatrists home (Gerd E. The former criminals and now hotel porter Pinkas (Zdenek Stepanek), the leg out of habit still like the window to visit and told him stories of his hoodlums time, worrying, however, so bad for his friend that he at one curious idea forfeit: he rounds up the remaining figures of the old guard to a conspiratorial crooks conference to once again together to turn one last thing. The film presents as the last work categorized as too recalcitrant, at the time against the background of the 11th Plenum of the Central Committee of the SED from “political and cultural-political reasons,” including state acceptance was refused, although director Hans-Joachim Kasprzik and screenwriter Rudy Ray during the approval process already defuse some “corrections” had had to make. Outrage

Outrage
Genre: Drama, Crime
Japan, yakuza, rivals, Organized Crime, Gang, Cannes 2010
Is there a definitive return to the roots or just a temporary trip? In any case, Takeshi Kitano has Outrage again one of those Yakuza movies shot for which he is especially at the beginning of his career has become known. However, despite its typical Kitano film waiting manuscript then but with some innovations that it in any case to an interesting selection, although sometimes make very explicit brutal experience. Otomo (Takeshi Kitano) is the boss of a small clan within the Yakuza and work closely with the Sanno-kai-clan of the Chairman Sekuichi (Soichiro Kitamura) is connected. The head of the Yakuza ring is angry with his underboss Ikemoto (Jun Kunimura), who united behind his back in prison friendship with the boss (Renji Ishibashi) Murase of the competing clan. To get rid of the existing friendship oath, instructed his friend Ikemoto Otomo order to regulate the delicate opportunity discreet. What the suspect but not both: They are just pawns in a game of power and domination, and come off with their behavior a spiral of violence that will survive at the end hardly anyone and the Claims have been redrawn. Although spoken in Outrage for Kitano conditions as much as in a very little work before you get some time in the course of history the impression that the number of punches and shots to the spoken sentences by far predominates. It still sees Kitano, to mix extreme violence and moments of comedy and cynical humor in a unique mix that in some moments is truly under the skin and some of the viewers on the next visit a dentist or ENT specialist should prepare a queasy feeling. The previously set standards in this field scene from Marathon Man may be classified at least in this regard in the future more in the category “Kids”. Extraordinary is also the music assembled here a collage using sound strange abstract patterns that result in only two places in an almost melodic acting ecstatic drum rhythm. This indeed fine in the sum but still significant changes compared to earlier works Kitano are also found in the character repertoire of Outrage again: So striking example, that the hitherto always dominated gangster in this new work Kitano no longer the old composure and radiate coolness. is almost permanently cursed herumgepöbelt and freaked out, falling mutual insults and fisticuffs, demonstrating that the manners and rules of former yakuza days belong to long past that this is a time of change is described, has become in the friendship and loyalty completely obsolete. No wonder, then, if Otomo not the ruthlessness of the business escapes. Even in prison for him to get his bills even more. The end for a while no less brutal, but at least somewhat loyal gangster, who simply does not fit into the new times. Despite his rough humor and his undeniable comic moments Outrage is also a (quite loud and rumplige) ballad, a farewell to the good old days and also a harbinger of change, not only – as is assumed – the Yakuza, but all areas of communal covered. It blows an increasingly harsh wind, the old values – be they good or bad – sweeps away indiscriminately. (Joachim Kurz)

Biutiful
Genre: Drama
Death, cancer, family relationships, criminal, Cannes 2010, Barcelona
Look like winners? Judging from the large theme by Alejandro González Iñárritu’s new film biutiful, you have to answer this question well decided. Uxbal (played by Javier Bardem) is a crook from Barcelona, with various deals and semi-hard to keep illegal business afloat. He lives apart from his wife Maramba (Maricel Alvarez), who suffers from bipolar disorder, and lovingly cares for his two children Ana and Mateo. But then he can ignore the pain in the abdomen, which he has for several months, and no longer comes to a doctor, give him a few investigations, the message must be that he has prostate cancer in an advanced stage and that he only a few months remain to live. Shocked by the terrible news Uxbal trying to get to be rather chaotic life in order and to provide for his children a reasonably tolerable future. But failure of all attempts lead to dead ends and make sure that Uxbal only invites more blame, as he unwittingly makes the deaths of 25 illegal immigrants. Even the attempt to reconcile with Maramba and out of it still make a good and responsible mother, is not crowned with success. And it must go Uxbal with the knowledge to his death, that he almost could not settle all his affairs. Biutiful despite its rather serene title Iñárritu’s been depressing and gloomy film – a depressing drama, which shows Uxbals Barcelona of a page, how to get to see the city rarely. Dirty, depraved and full of lost souls looking for salvation, is the metropolis no longing, but rather a symbol of hell on earth. Unusually straightforward and without the nesting of his previous films, the director describes the way his protagonist as a downward spiral in which there is little room for hope. And yet there are scenes and moments full of confidence and compassion, no highlights in this sea of gloom. With more economical, but as always, incredibly intense music and a leading actor Javier Bardem, who for the second time in the sea is impressive in me a Totgeweihten counts, this film so far to the promising candidates for a Golden Palm at Cannes. Here is what the story of a young rogue and great music at the end of the big winners of 63 Cannes Film Festival include. Perhaps that would be a kind of poetic justice for the immense suffering of Uxbal, whose death and his desperate struggle we have moved to tears. (Joachim Kurz)
