Aragami

A wounded and pierced with arrows Samurai (Takao Osawa) wanders through the woods and finally collapses at the gates of a temple. When he wakes, are miraculously healed all his wounds and plenty of strange Templar (Masaya Kato) invites you to stay the samurai. With a generous meal of the hosts eventually declared with whom it has to do the fearless warrior: for he is facing any man, but he was Aragami, the raging god of war. Aragami calls out his baffled guest to a duel. For the God of war is weary of the arduous life and wants nothing more than death. However Aragami can – as it might otherwise have to be – only in the fight of his life. The samurai has no choice, and a bitter fight to the death begins …

Aragami arose from an unusual collaboration of director Ryuhei Kitamura (of the eighties, especially in the years talked about was) with his colleague Yukihiko Tsutsumi out – or rather a duel between two artists with the weapons of the film. This is how it also bears the name of logical Duel Project. The task is simple: It was, in each case a film about death, the bitter struggle between two protagonists in a limited space to stage, and with modest means. Both directors were realized only seven days left to the film. The result is as diverse as breathtaking: While Tsutumi designed 2LDK in his work (the Japanese abbreviation of a spacious apartment with two bedrooms) with plenty of sarcasm, the bloody struggle between the two actresses for a role that could be Ryuhei Kitamura from the samurai films and Japanese inspired by the legend, the god of war Aragami.

The result is a sometimes fast-paced, well-equipped and coherently staged film, when convincing especially the fight scenes. Unbelievable that this film was realized in just one week. Now, therefore, remains to be seen only if 2LDK that comes on 13.5, released in Germany, can hit better, and which of the two directors shall be liable to struggle with the camera.

Way, it was just announced that Ryuhei Kitamura Now as a director of a new Godzilla film is established, which under the name of Godzilla – The Final Wars come in the land of the rising sun in the cinemas. However, if this movie will be shown in Germany, yet is still in the stars.
